>From what I heard, it was just when he was getting "big" in the early
7O's, and was at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC; some composer had
written an avant-garde piece that called for him to wander off while the
pianist kept playing near the end, then race from one side of backstage
through the platform and off again, with it all off. And he did it!
Apparently it nearly put the kibosh on his career, but ultimately he came
through.

A similar story that happened here in T.O. a couple of years ago:
violinist Nigel Kennedy was doing an interview in the offices of the
Tor.Sym., and in the middle, walked up to an artificial potted plant in
the corner, unzipped, and relieved himself! The weird/annoying part of it
was that with his "bad-boy" reputation, the officials involved thought
this was great for PR, and wanted to auction off the plant!!!

Cheers,

P
