The Gershwin piecea you are probably thinking of are by Paul Harvey and are
called Three Etudes on Themes of Gershwin. There is a recent recording by
clarinetist Kathy Pope, on a CD titled "From Bach to Gershwin" The pieces
are quite good and also fun to play.
