I called up Hymie Voxman to get some information on all those
unknown composers in his Rubank folios and he told me that Barat was a
trumpet player and professor at the Paris Conservatory. so I bet you
could go to THEM for info (I wonder if they have a web site?) or even
call up Hymie. Maybe he'll give you some more information. He lives in
Iowa City. The last phone # I have for him is (319)337-5570. Oh, I guess
you could also check on a trumpet list (I assume there is one on the
web). If you get some more information, I'd love to know.
About Heiden, have you checked in Who's Who in Music? What about
with ASCAP? BMI? American Music Center? His old University affiliation? I
can't believe there is no information on this very notable American
composer.
