Depends on the computer you have. I have the discography and
archivesi databases online at http://sneezy.mika.com/clarinet which
use wais/waisindex as a database engines and free-text indexers.
The software tuns on Unix (and maybe PCs - but I didn't check) and
is free (but you have to compile it). A free-text search of the entire
Klarinet archive (~18000 atricles) using a few conditional expressions
takes about 10 seconds on a trusty, rusty old Decstation 5000/200
including retrieval. Conversion to HTML takes another 5 seconds or so.
A Pentium/133 processor running Linux would be significantly faster
than that (but the Decstation is paid for, excess equipment). The
nice thing about free-text engines is that you don't get stuck with a
rigid structure.
