All I can tell you about this recording is that it is out of print and has
been for a long time. It was one of the first cds I bought and it
dissappeared soon afterward. It is on the Nautilaus label. Seems to me that
some of the players wanted to buy back the master tape of this recording so
that it could be made available again, but with no luck.

This is indeed a lovely performance, though the parts used do not contain the
original articulations from Mozart's autograph. Harold Wright and John Yeh
match tones quite well (Yeh plays on a Leblanc bassett horn or F alto
clarinet if you must). Al Genovese is such a superb oboist and musician. Plus
this recording has the advantage of Symphony Hall's acoustics. Many if not
most of the Marlboro recordings made in Vermont suffer from cramped recording
locations.

Though the tempos are a bit on the slow side throughout (Moyse was in his 90s
when he conducted this), it is hard not to love this recording. I hope that
the disc will make it back into print someday.
