The more I play the more I tend to use a new or adolescent reeds. I know
that
people make reeds last a long time, and I have been very influenced by this
attitude about reeds. I carefully store them (Selmer glass case) and dry
them after
playing. I try thinking up new ways of marking them according to strength,
best mouthpiece, effects, and I rotate reeds so as not to overuse one.
Now I'm thinking: "Chuck it." Use a new reed. I've never really read anything
on this list from players who are able to get a long life from reeds. Usually,
it's the people who make their own. Any advice? ----Bill Fogle.
