Greetings and salutations ot the members of Klarinet. I've been lurking
for the past month and a half, and I felt it was to time to say hello. My
name is Andrew Bailes, and I maintain a subscription to this list for Peter
Randell, a learned man and a fine player in his own right. Peter studied
under Russianoff, and was a member of Lionel Hampton's band. In the time I've
known him, Peter has played all throughout the city of Toronto, in a
multitude of venues, playing a variety of music from Mozart to dixieland
jazz. I've seen him as a bandleader, an orchestra member and as a soloist,
all while running a nationwide distributing business. His dedication to his
instruments, clarinet and saxophones, after almost 50 years, is amazing. ( I
myself am a former trumpet player, and have played guitar for 15 years. I had
to learn how to play "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" on all the major brass
and woodwinds, including clarinet, strings, and various percussion
instruments, so I'm not just blowing smoke). Thank you for providing him with
tons of e-mail (my aching mailbox), as he receives a lot of pleasure reading
your discussions. I keep trying to get him to respond to some the issues, as
it doesn't mean the same to me as it would be to you.
Until next time,
Andrew
