I don't have any problems with Rovner ligs and mouthpiece caps forming
enough of a seal for the instrument to sit for a while. When I was playing
at Otto Link on my tenor, I used packing tape to seal the end of the
cap, and it works fine now.

Besides, while it may not be a perfect seal and the reed won't stay wet
indefinately, it is usually good enough for the kinds of uses you need
in a show.
