Daniel is thinking of changing from Mitchell Lurie reeds:

-->I've been playing the clarinet for some 12 years now. I do believe for
all
-->but maybe the first of those years I've been using standard issue
-->(not the premium) Mitchel Lurie reeds of varying degrees
-->of hardness. . . .I think it's time to change reeds. Basically I'm
looking
--> for suggestions of other brands to try, and just as
-->importantly their realtive hardness compared to Mitchel Lurie.

The MLs are softer, by at least a half-grade, than others. I played with
the MLs and I think they are superb reeds for flexibility, _evenness_,
and sometimes they even have a OK tone. At some point, and not especially
suddenly, I found I had completely switched over to V12s and Glotins (i.e.,
thick center "heart"). I couldn't go back except in an emergency. Yes,
by all means get Zondas. Something about their "voicing", how clarion
sounds in comparision with other registers, makes them a treat to play.
