I've been playing the clarinet for some 12 years now. I do believe for all
but maybe the first of those years I've been using standard issue
(not the premium) Mitchel Lurie reeds of varying degrees of hardness.
Having recently been paroled from a sentence of playing bass clarinet in
our Wind Ensemble (ok, it wasn't that bad once I stopped squeaking and
could usually hit most of the upper register, and anyway since no one is
playing it now, I feel guilty) and returned to the old standard Bb, I've
taken a renewed interest in the instrument. I think it's time to change
reeds.

Basically I'm looking for suggestions of other brands to try, and just as
importantly their realtive hardness compared to Mitchel Lurie. I usually
play on about a 4 for Mitchel Lurie, though if my lip is in shape I'll
play on 4.5's and if I'm feeling especially lazy 3.5's. Any help would be
appreciated. (I keep hearing again and again on the list about Zonda
reeds...)
