I use a KORG chromatic tuner's sound option to play the tonic of the section
I am practicing, and challange myself to play "in tune" with that reference
tone. Though the octaves, fourths and fifths are easier to hear, an in tune
second is wonderful for the spice of it! The point is learning to remain
flexable and be able to bend the pitch to match a standard. In any
orchestra the standard depends on who you are playing with at the time and
that person's intonation ego level. . .
