Upside down reeds? Heck, I heard that some early clarinet and related single
reed instruments were meant to be played that way. It must have hurt
something fierce! One of the best teachers I ever met said something to the
effect that all music teachers ought to scream very loudly at least once a
day in their studios--it might be the nearest thing to music they would get
to hear that day!

Where would we be without those patient folks who got us past the first rough
days and years?
