Well, I think competitions should be opened to anyone to any age. Age groups
should be okay. But, that wouldn't be fair to some young clarinet prodigy who
can play music from a higher age group. Or maybe just some open-to-all
competitions that eliminates professionals that are already a player in a
professional band. I think competitions such as the Young Artist and HS
student (or was it the same?) competitions give younger players a chance. I
mean like a non-professional guy that had played the clarinet for like 80
years shouldn't be allowed to compete with players that had played for like
18 years, that wouldn't be fair. The age thing eliminates that problem.

How 'bout competitions with different age groups. But allows a youger player
participate in a competition for people in higher age groups. I think that's
pretty much what ICA's doing right now. (Think.) As long as you have
competitions for players of all ages should be fun.

This might be a crazy idea if they don't already have it. An annual event
where all those superb players compete for first place. I'll be the first to
buy a ticket to see that. Combs vs. Drucker vs. Morales vs. Stolzman vs.
every other great players aroung the would. Maybe it can turn into an Olympic
event. Any billionaires out there want to fund this competition? Hey, richest
guy in the US, Bill Gates, are you there?
I love this idea a lot. Tell me what you think. List or private, whatever.

Okay, enough of my craziness, I'll take my medication right now. And I
promise I'll put on the straight-jacket before I sleep.

Clarinetty yours,
Patrick
Kwan
