In the spirit of sharing our teachers thoughts. I remember one lesson with
Robert Marcellus at Northwestern University where I was playing a Cavallini
Caprice. In the music were group of sequencial appoggiatura phrases that
gradually were to increase in intensity and volume....well, I got too loud
too soon. I had nothing more to give with a series of phrases left to
perform.

Marcellus stopped me and waited a few moments to "clear the air"...there was
a rather brief moment of discomfort in waiting for statement that followed.
With a grimmace and wink, Marcellus said: "Don't blow your wad too soon!"
