The FDA is just about to give approval for clarinets as a treatment
for sinus congestion. However, clarinets will only be available by
prescription. Opponents of the new drug are fearful of designer clarinets
(e.g., "bennies") showing up on city streets, but this hasn't happened with
piccolos (which are effective in clearing wax out of the ear canal), so
these fears are probably ungrounded.
