Dan,

As President-elect of the ICA, the YAC is one of my duties. Please read my
response below. I hope this is useful for the entire list.

Dan,

The ICA has set the limits after many years of doing the "Young" Artist
Competition. The age limit is not arbitrary. Rather, it as a result of many
years (more than 25) of similar competitions hosted by ICS-ICA and previous
Clarinet Congresses in/at Denver University.

We have two competitions. One for a younger group, the ICA High School
Competition, and one for an older group, anyone up to age 27 (not 26).
Please attend the ICA ClarinetFest '96 in Lubbock, TX and attend the
semi-final and final rounds to see the high quality and musicianship of the
semi and finalists.
