I have alway held two sayings by former teachers as very special:

Jerome Stowell (Chicago SO and NU) "..ninety-five percent of what is wrong
with the clarinet is behind the mouthpiece."

Jack Brymer (LSO) "...nothing is EASY on the clarinet--now and then you
come across something less difficult."
