Well, George, from your choice of words, I can see which side you're on!
But I believe you are right -- every time I've played it, the first
eighth was short. Don't think "clipped" so much as "bounced" perhaps.
The whole theme should proceed in that style -- but it should have
direction, which clipping per se will not accomplish. Maybe that's what
you're really arguing about!
