Hi Starr - I started writing this note about two weeks ago, then forgot to
send it - you had asked about the different woods etc. I'm always glad when
people ask about them on the list, as it gives me (and Jonathan) a chance
to say how great they are again! :-)

Many thanks to Jonathan for his glowing endorsement of Rossi clarinets (and
for his earlier contribution to the "do clarinets sound different"
discussion). I'll second what Jonathan had to say, and add for my own part
I've been playing Rossi's for six years now - I have a cocobolo B flat and
a rosewood A, both English bore (much larger than the French or American)
and love them. Visually the cocobolo is what I expected rosewood to look
like - dark and very red. The rosewood is actually lighter in colour
(people often ask me if it's an authentic period instrument or
reproduction) and not very red. He's also made a few out of a very blond
wood (not sure what - maybe kingwood?) and a couple of years ago
experimented with greenheart (phenomenally dense wood from Brazil) which
would be spectacular looking but I don't think it worked very well.

regards, lgb
