I am currently playin the Sonatine for clarinet and piano by Pierre Gabaye
for an accompanying class here at Eastman. The teacher has asked us to try
to find information about our composers to present to the class. I have
been searching through the Sibley Library (which is one of the largest music
libraries in the States) and I can't find anything about him except for the
fact that he wrote a couple of pieces. I have checked pretty much every
resource that is here in the collection, and I still know nothing.

I remember that a couple of years ago, the piece came up in a discussion
about pieces that are influenced by jazz. (the second movement is like a
slow Paris blues ballad). I know it is not a terribly popular work in the
repertoire, but does anybody out there in Klarinet-land know anything about
this piece?!! I will be very thankful for anything that I can get on this
guy, because I can't seem to find anything.

Thanks in advance!

Ben Maas
