OK, so I have an extra clarinet laying around the house now
(a Vito plastic thing that my son started on & played in
marching band) that I THINK I'll try for fun. I've got the
beginner books from his band days, too. BUT - no mouthpiece.
He took 'em all (two Selmers and a Gigliotti) with him to
school (where he's bound to get yet another one since his
new teacher custom makes them). I don't want to spend too
much but I don't want junk. The beginner's mouthpiece he
used was a 5RV - is this a reasonably good one to start
with (the price isn't too bad).

BTW - if there's any high-school clarinetists on the
list - my son, who just started his sophomore year at
Interlochen (his 1st year at Interlochen), mailed me back
the comment "I think I'm going to have to practice A LOT.
One of the kids played the Mozart Concerto for audition,
another the Poulenc Sonata, and they're real good." ;^)
