Why not just pick up a cheap Wurlitzer while you're over there? ;-)

Seriously though, if I might offer a suggestion (I got the idea from an
article on HR Stalder's trio in the Clarinet mag years ago): a strong
cardboard mailing tube makes a great clarinet case. I carried my Eb on
tour for years this way - wrap the horn in bubble wrap, then stuff it
in the tube. You can get rigid plastic end caps for better protection
too. I don't know how the weight would compare to the pochette case - it
might be a bit heavier when you got a strong enough tube - but it would
fit easily in the pack...

Sounds like a great trip, anyway - don't forget to write!
