Hey, Hanson IS NOT so farfetched..

Hanson wrote a Fantasy for Solo Clarinet and Chamber Orchestra in
1978. I discovered the piece while writing my book, Howard Hanson:
A Bio-Bibliography for Greenwood Press. Learning that it was only in
manuscript, I got permission from Eastman to have parts prepared and
did the premiere with the Cheektowaga Community Symphony Orchestra in
the Buffalo, NY area on October 31, 1993.

The Hanson piece, by the way, is very accessible, but would probably
not work well for clarinet and piano -- it is very lyrical.
