I don't know if it is still available or even safe, but butyzolodene is used
in race horses and show horses for RSI and I have used some of it (very
judiciously!) on a bad wrist with excellent results. It is a rub-on
anti-inflammatory that is absorbed through the skin--the only problem is that
it is so effective in alleviating pain that the animal (or person) who uses
it is likely to continue the activitiy since no more pain is being felt and
will do further injury to the tendons and the joint. Pain is generally a
signal that something is going wrong and there is damage being done. Just
relieving the pain or removing the inflammation will not prevent damage.
Finding a method of practicing that will not cause damage is the key. That
might include braces, straps, warming and stretching muscles before and after
use and intermittent rests during practice. Good Luck!

Joie
