Neil,
I have both a Claricord, and a BG neckstrap. (I haven't needed to use either,
but "just in case"). I swore by the BG (after trying the Claricord-putting it
on wrong), but when my student showed me how to properly use it, I prefered
the Claricord. The BG straps are inflexible, like a Sax strap. The Claricord
is an elastic band that feels less restrictive. Also you would need 2 BG
straps for 2 clarinets because the base of the BG is attached to the middle
joint of the clarinet- a problem when switching clarinets in a concert. Also
there were 2 types of the BG strap- the base should be adjustable. I had 2 BG-
the 1st was not adjustable (to fit around the ring of the middle joint) , and
the 2nd was. At the time (4 years ago) the only distributor of the 2nd kind of
BG strap was Muncy 800-333-6415 Woodwinds.

How does the BG strap work? You seem to have found it very effective,
AND you state that it is not necessary to use it all of the time. This
sounds very hopeful for me. I'm trying to get a sense of which strap
would be the best one to try initially. Nobody has made comments on the
Claricord, but your personal endorsement of the BG strap has me interested.
