Yes, this does help. It now occurs to me that I must consult the string
players in the orchestras I play for. I've never bothered to notice
whether or not any of them wear a brace, but I'll probably see a few at
the next rehearsals. They might be able to provide insight, as the
members of this list have so generously done already.
