What a splendid idea!!

I'll go over to my workshop immediately and try drilling some different
diameters and positions on some reeds. I am also looking forward to the
discussions on this matter in the list. It seems another interesting topic
is added to the world of reed adjusting!

How about having two or more holes? I imagine too many does no good for the
lower lip, as after rehearsals, clarinetists could be easily identified by
the small pressure marks on the lip.

Seriously, I haven't seen that gadget in Japan so far, next rehearsal I'll
ask our japanese clarinetists about that.
