You get used to waiting, I suppose...Try the last movement of Mahler
9, for example: you sit for the better part your adult life, and
when it's time to come in (assuming that you are either awake or
still alive!) you must enter on a high Bb, all alone and pianissimo.
Very fun.

Then there's Shostakovich 6th, where you sit out most of the first
movement only to rip through a major league solo that begins the
second.

Glad we're playing all Beethoven next week!
