Dan,

So, where were you with your recommendations when I needed you
six months ago? That was when I played the Eb part to the Ravel Piano
Concerto.

It all worked out ok at the concert, although I had a peculiar
experience at the first rehearsal. Like you, when I glanced at the second
movement, I concluded (carelessly) that I rested for the entire
movement. But, after the orchestra had traversed the movement for the
first time, I was asked, "So where was the Eb clarinet?"

About two-thirds through the movement, the Eb clarinet plays
(surprise!) for one or two bars. That was the last time I took a
siesta during the concerto.
