Subj: NYC teacher? Leon Lester?

Folks,
Can anyone recommend a good clarinet teacher in NYC--Manhattan or
Brooklyn and perhaps (but not necessarily) jazz oriented? I
am an adult beginner/intermediate who's serious about learning to
play; have been doing so since last year. Current teacher talks
way too much during lessons, never plays for me to hear how it should
be done, and doesn't listen to me play too much, either. Kinda
frustrating.

Also, is Leon Lester still alive? I feel as if I know him somehow,
having worked with his Rambles book and another one of etudes adapted
from another guy named Herring (?). This music has really hit the
spot with me.

Thanks,
John Verity/NYC jverity@-----.com
