The United States Army Field Band.
"The U.S Army's official touring Concert Band" Clarinet Positions
The concert band of United States Army Field Band, travels 100-120 days
a year touring in the United States and abroad. Performance requirements are
1) Standard and original concert band literature, 2) Standard and special
classical transcriptions, 3) Pop, swing and jazz standards and special
arrangements. Opportunities for solo and small ensemble work are available.
This position requires a minimum 3-year enlistment. The candidate will be
informed of acceptance prior to enlistment
QUALIFICATIONS: The candidate must have strong sight-reading skills and be
able to perform various musical styles. Those with improvisational skills
should include representative excerpts. Baccalaureate degree preferred, but
not required.
SALARY: $25,360-28,690 annually (Military rank of Staff Sergeant)
BENEFITS: 30 days paid vacation per year. Medical and dental care, plus
medical care for immediate family members. Group life insurance offered at a
nominal cost. Post Exchange and Commissary privileges. Educational benefits
including the college loan repayment program and tuition assistance.
AUDITION PROCESS: Submit an audio tape containing solos or excerpts of
various musical styles with emphasis on concert band and classical literature
by December 6, 1996. Applicants selected from screening of tapes will be
invited to travel to Fort Meade, Maryland, for a personal interview and
audition.
