Hi Fred,

I know of four ensemble accompaniments to "Il Convegno," three
band and one string orchestra.

In addition to having done the piano accompaniment versions several
times (like you), I have performed the 2nd and 3rd movements using a band
arrangement by G. Stanton Selby of Pomona, and I have done the complete
piece with a string orchestra accompaniment arranged by Ted Stern of
Glendale College, California.

Last year, Jay Niepoetter of the Klarinet List performed a Navy
Band arrangement with the Marine Corps Band at Washington, D.C. He also
informed me that another arrangement exists -- one by a professor at the
University of Wisconsin (I think) that is available on rental.

Actually, there is also a fifth possibility. Notes to one of the
editions I own mention that Ponchielli's original accompaniment was for
"Wind Orchestra" and specify its location. However, I don't know of
anyone who has successfully tracked down the composer's original score.

Please let me know if you want further details.

Best regards,

Connie
