Klarinet Archive - Posting 000721.txt from 1996/08
From: "Dan Leeson: LEESON@-----.EDU> Subj: Nick is right - he agrees with me Date: Wed, 28 Aug 1996 20:19:57 -0400
The wisdom of Nick's statement may be shown to be superior because he
agrees with me. I agree with him. There are sublties in everything.
But the point I was attempting to make was that the pendulum had
swung to its extreme, at least in one's ability to understand the
question.
What was being said was that one buys a tone along with the clarinet.
To which I (and Nick) say Horse hockey!!
Nick says that any clarinet may have peculiarities that influence
certain aspects of the sound character (such as a badly drilled tone
hole)
To which Nick (and I) say, "It is a cause for concern."
I am simply trying to get some of the heads of some of the younger players
on this list shaped properly.
