Well, I am glad I woke Dan up. Haven't heard from him much lately. By
the way, Greg is my son (who I don't think I mentioned by name) my
name is Gary.

While I have agreed with Dan's posts in the past about our inability
to describe the differences in tone quality effectively in words,
that doesn't mean that the differences don't exist.

I *can* hear a differece between my old Selmer Signet and my son's
R-13. The only variable in this testing is instrument. Everything
else (mouthpiece, player, even the reed) is the same. How much does
the instrument contribute to the sound? Ten percent, twenty? I don't
know but it is enough to be significant.
