Concerto #2 in E Major for Violin & Strings -- J.S. Bach
Adagio

"Bist du bei mir" -- J.S. Bach
Thou art my joy!
Be thou but near me,
Then shall my soul, in deep content,
Move on to its eternal rest.

Blest were my death,
with thee beside me,
Thy tender hand mine eyelids closing,
My dying gaze to rest on thee.

"Dank sei Dir, Herr" -- Georg Friedrich Handel
All thanks to Thee,
Lord, Who has brought Thy people forth,
Israel, safe through the sea.

E'en as a flock following the shepherd,
Lord, by Thy hand are we led,
so by Thy grace salvation is ours.

Barcarolle - Remembering Bob -- Richard Cumming

"The Birds" -- Peter Warlock
When Jesus Christ was four years old,
The angels brought him toys of gold,
Which no man ever had bought or sold.

And yet with these he did not play.
He made Him small fowl out of clay,
And blessed them till they flew away.

Tu creasti, Domine.

Jesus Christ, Thou child so wise,
Bless mine hands and fill mine eyes,
And bring my soul to Paradise.
-- Hilaire Belloc

Adagio for Strings -- Samuel Barber

REFLECTIONS ON A LIFE
The Rev. Joseph E. Mazza

"Morgen" -- Richard Strauss
And tomorrow the sun will rise again,
And on the path that I will follow,
It shall again unite us, happy ones,
Upon this sun-breathing earth...
And to the wide shore, with its blue waves,
We will quietly and slowly descend,
Speechless, we shall look into each other's eyes,
And upon us will descend the muted silence of happiness...

I wish I could express to each of you personally my sincere
appreciation and thanks for being here today to honor and remember
Bob. Some of you came great distances and I am deeply touched.
His was a rich and rewarding life and he left us many wonderful
memories to cherish.

The love and support of our families, our extended family of close,
long-time friends and the wonderful people of this community have
been like a rock on which to lean, especially during these last few
years and since Bob's death. I thank you from the bottom of my
heart.

I am deeply indebted to the Peninsula Music Festival for allowing
the use of the Auditorium during Festival time, and especially to
Victor and Sharon who have been so very helpful.

There is no way I can sufficiently thank the participants who
presented us with this special program today. Theirs was the
greatest gift of all! I know Bob would be very pleased.

My love to you all.

-- Marion

The Robert Marcellus Memorial Fund has been established to endow
the principal clarinet chair in memory of Bob by the Peninsula
