I've used a Selmer S crystal mouthpiece since I was about
13 years old (I'm 57 now). Nothing else quite does it for
me. The hard rubber or plastic one I bought at Selmer in
Paris a couple of years ago
ago isn't bad (can't remember what it is, it just felt and
sounded good among the dozen or so that I tried).
The bad news is that crystal mouthpieces chip and crack.
My current one has a couple of tiny chips at the top where
the reed flutters back and forth (what is that location
called, anyway?) Does anyone know where I can get a new
Selmer S or a reasonable facsimile -- I'm told that the
S is no longer made.
