A recent message on Klarinet mentioned the superb jazz background
in the newly released movie, "Kansas City." Our correspondent also
praised the clarinet soloist, whose name eluded him on the credits crawl.

I saw the movie today and can report that its most singular
feature was indeed the jazz playing. During the credits, I homed in on
musicians' names and saw the following listing: Clarinet/Saxophone, Don
Byron.

I wondered whether that was Don Byron, the klezmer virtuoso,
shifting gears playing some rather convincing 1930s Kansas City jazz.
