A good place to start is to pull off your register key and clear the tube
of any lint or other buildup. A little bit of lint will muffle the
response of your throat Bb to this maddening point of which you speak.
If this is indeed the problem, you'll feel like the sun has suddenly
shone through the clouds when the buildup is removed. Your Bb will sing
like never before! Clear the tube using a pipe cleaner or some other
similar gentle device. A competent repairman in your area would probably
be willing to perform this simple five minute operation for free. Don't
let them use a mini-screwdriver or anything like that! Good luck.
