Patrick,
Price varies acording to location, quality, etc. However, the
best way to know you're getting good work is to get a recommendation from
a pro in your area (I think you said you were in New York, yes? If so,
Rod Baltimore is quite reputable, as is the fellow who used to be at
Giardinelli's - I think his name was Mario?? - it is a hispanic name.
Also, Murray Sneider is superb).
Then, don't quibble about the price. Just make sure that the materials
you want are used (the tech might like to use his own favorite materials).
