Here's an idea about what might be causing the problems with the multiple
bounced copies of the GIF file. According to the headers, these are
coming from a university in Hong Kong. The original message was sent to
all members of the Klarinet list. Someone who is a member of the list
from Hong Kong had an account which couldn't receive the message.
Perhaps his/her account had a size limit which would have been exceeded
by the encoded message. That system may be configured to bounce a
message whenever it cannot be received, and to insert the "From" address
into the "To" line when doing so. Thus, it went back to every member of
the list, including the one who originally couldn't recieve it, and the
whole cycle started all over. If unchecked this will presumably multiply
exponentially.

This is based only on speculation, and not on any particular computer
expertise, because I have none. However, if this hypothesis is correct,
it can be remedied by the list administrator and the postmaster of the
university system in Hong Kong which is bouncing the message.

Hope this at least puts someone on the right track.
