I also am always looking for bargain instruments, and found your stories
very interesting. But, $80 for a _Db_ piccolo!?!?!?! I would have
offered them $5, and been very happy to keep my money in my pocket if
they asked for more. I bet you can go to most of the high schools in
this country and buy all the Db piccolos you want for $5 each - or less.
There are thousands of them that have been sitting in closets and
instrument storage rooms since the 1930's and 40's.

This reminds me a a story - a tragic but true one. A school in this area
traded a Heckel bassoon for a marching bass drum!
