The RC models have a different bore (larger) and different register key
position than than the R13. They are more popular in France than the
R13, which is the most popular Buffet here. Both also come in Prestige
versions. I believe clarinetists Paul Meyer, Eduard Brunner and Hans
Rudolf Stalder use the RC model (RC stands for Robert Carre, the
designer of this and of the R13). When I was looking for an A clarinet
I liked an RC Prestige the best of what I tried and later switched my Bb
to an RC also since I liked the type of sound and response better than
the R13. I think it is just a matter of personal preference. According
to a post of several months ago, Robert Spring plays an RC A clarinet.
