I always thought that Rossini did these, but he didn't. I saw the back of the
Ensemble Vienna/Berlin CD and it listed an arranger whose name escapes me
(was it that clarinetist F. Berr?). I haven't heard the cd, but I did hear
Leister and pals play one of these live in Germany and, needless to say, it
was smashing.

BTW, are these string symphonies or string quartets originally? They are
indeed fun to play.
