No, marching with a bass clarinet is a LOT of fun. Not the playing
part, which you can never hear anyway over the brass instruments, but the
funny-looks-from-the-onlookers part. To wit:

Young boy: "Mommy, what's that weird looking thing?"

Mommy: "Dear, that's an oboe."

BTW, a better marching strap is to modify a baritone sax strap.
Takes the weight off the neck and the mouthpiece doesn't bounce as
much, thus saving you the expense of replacing your front teeth.
