The recent comments about ClarinetFests have been very interesting. Certainly
these annual conferences fulfill different interests for different people.
Comments like those made earlier by Claudia Zornow and Niel Leupold are
particularly useful for those charged with making plans for future
ClarinetFests. If any of you have additional reflections on past festivals or
other insights that you feel would help us in planning ClarinetFest '97, I
urge you to send them to me via E-Mail.

We are in the process of setting up a web site to allow you the most
up-to-date access for plans for next summer. Some of the artists that will be
participating include: Eddie Daniels, Ricardo Morales(Principal in
Metropolitan Opera), Christie Lundquist(Principal, Utah SO), Rafael
Bagdassarian(Principal, Bolshoi-Moscow), Allesandro Carbonare(Principal,
French National SO), Antonio Saoite(Portugal National SO), and hopefully Jon
Manasse(ABT-NY) and Laura Ardan(Principal, Atlanta SO), plus many others. We
will be reviewing performance proposals through the middle of September.

Please be assured(especially Claudia) that we are planning a number of
"interactive" events, including an opening night "TEXAS BAR-B-Q" followed by a
concert tribute to the great clarinet features of the Big Bands. There are a
number of other possibilities and your input is not only welcome, but
solicited in helping us make decisions for next year. Please let me know your
ideas and make plans to attend!!!
