Subj: altering instruments (HUMOROUS)

I just read a message about using a longer barrel to turn a Bb clarinet
into an A. I don't know how good that will work, and I wish the player
good luck. What I want to know is: how can I turn my Buffet R-13 into either
a Prestige Buffet or a Rossi clarinet (I'll stay with the Bb size). So far,
I've come up with rubbing the dull, grainless black wood of my R-13
with Formby's (or denatured alcohol) to bring out the grain and the sort
of brown/mahogany "real wood" look. But what about the tenon rings and
silver stuff? To make a Rossi out of it seems an easier step: just glue the
two main joints together. And get rid of the "tone-dulling metal rings".
Ah, forget it.
