Since you are coming on line as a German Clarinetist now living in
Luebeck, I guess this is a good time to come on line as a hobby
clarinetist also living in Germany. I am also new to this list. I
work for the U.S. Department of Defense as an Electronic Engineer. My
name is Jerry Polcar and many years ago while doing graduate work in
the department of engineering at UCLA, I had the good fortune to study
under Mitchell Lurie. Now I play sometimes with the Kelly Barracks
Entertainment Branch Theater Group when they need another clarinetist
for Broadway Musicals and regularly with the Herrenberg Stadt
Orchestra and the Herrenberg Stadtkapelle. Having lived in Germany
for a several years I know what Joerg Peltzer is talking about when he
says that he teaches at the Music School and is a student at the Music
High School. High School in Germany can be much more advanced than
the American version. In fact before finishing High School
(Hochschule) one will have completed the equivalent of a Junior
College curriculum. The music school is closer to our elementary
school and early secondary school system. Now for the more
interesting request for instruction books. Most of the books
currently available in the states emphasize the Boehm system and most
of the German Clarinetists I know here use the German system. So I am
a bit hesitant to recommend books unless the type of system used does
not matter to Joerg.
Willkommen und wenn Sie seit haben, schicken Sie mir ein E-mail,
bitte.
