Larry was principal in Montreal prior to being invited to come to
the Chicago SO. There was at least one year of overlap between
Larry and his predecessor, Clark Brody and during that time I think
Larry played some E-flat clarinet too.

I did the Gran Partitta with Larry in Montreal and other members of
the MSO. He played first basset horn and I played second. That
was pure pleasure, not only because of the opportunity to play with
Larry, but also the other players were so fine. I was interviewed
on the Canadian radio in both French and English. I was even paid
twice for the gig, once when I did it, and once a year later when they
rebroadcast it.
