The Selmer 10G has an adjustable thumbrest, which we set for a
perpendicular movement of the index finger over the tone hole (as
per the instructions of my son's clarinet teacher). It helped
his hand stay in proper alignment for playing. If the hand and wrist
stay in proper alignment, the chance for RSI is gratly avoided. I've
had RSI in the left hand due to bad hand position while playing bass
guitar (back in the days when I played A LOT). A therapist and
good teacher (along with rest when I could least afford it) alleviated
the problem.
