Mark----

The grenadilla guru William Stubbins in "The Art of
Clarinetistry" wrote the most-often quoted paragraph about
how players are fooling themselves that weight makes the tone darker.
I'm no person to disagree with Mr. (Dr.) Stubbins. My Selmer recital has
(down Dan) a darker tone quality than the Buffet. Maybe it's the bore.
Anyway, the Stubbins paragraph came up in May (see I really pay attention)
when everybody was talking about the Buffet Elite.
Why did Buffet make their top model (the Elite) thin-walled?
Why did Selmer make their top model thick-walled?
Ron Monsen asked this question last year (you don't need
to maintain the database Mark----I have Klarinet memorized : )
I think it's time for Nick Shackleton to step in and answer the
question!!! How's that for obfuscation!!! Sounds like your house is
a very musical one! Who practices when? Also, how is the
piano newsgroup doing, do you know? I no longer have
internet access, only e-mail (this list). ---Bill.
